    Default 2TGE-U advice

Hi, I have just installed a 2TGE-U into my TA 23 and I have a serious oil leak from a part that attaches to the timing cover. I have circled the leaking part in purple on the pictures.

Can anyone tell me what this part does, cam chain tensioner adjuster ?oil pressure regulator? I just don't want to take it off without knowing what is does and if there are any tricky spring loaded devices inside.

Any advice would be good and also where is the best place to source and engine manual?

    Hi,

It is the camshaft chain tensioner.

Here's a diagram that may be of some assistance. In the following diagram it is item 13550. Also notice there is a gasket (13550B), and this is what you may need. I can check my EPC and find out the proper part number, but my EPC doesn't cover the 2T-GEU engine - so I would only be assuming the gaskets are identical between the 2T-G and the 2T-GEU.

It's the timing chain tensioner mate... don't take it off as you may drop a cog on the timing.. I have heard that you can buy a "seal" kit for them and put them back in..
