Default Altenator - External reg --> Internal reg

Just about to embark on the conversion from the crappy 2T Alt with external reg to a 2TGEU alt with internal reg (that came with the halfcut). Now if my research is correct there are 4 wires that need to be connected (sourced from here http://autoshop101.com/forms/h8.pdf):

    B fused wire to Battery
    S fused wire to Battery
    IG to Ignition switch
    L to Charge light

So to convert from the old Alt I'll need to run a new wire for S but the rest of the wires can come straight off the old loom, and dispose of all the excess wires. Is this correct?

yup.. does the new alt have an S wire?
some alts internally sense, and some use the IGN for sense....

does it go directly to the battery on the halfcut? (still makes sense as the sense wire won't heat up and change resistance like the charging wire can)

oh, and run a new fat cable for the B wire.

    hey Seb,

    B to battery
and the other three go to the plug for the old regulator.
    W - Voltage sense
    Y/W - CHG light
    Y/B - Ign

you may need to use a relay for the chg light cct if it is always on when running and off other times.

    Some 1G-GTE alts are "backwards".

Hmmm, I spent a half hour cleaning the altenator only to discover the shed fairys seem to have replaced my Internal regulated altenator for a standard ext reg altenator while I wasn't looking. OK. now where did I place that altenator...

ps. Witzl - I searched for about an hour and never ran accross your guide. Poop!
