Default Worn Front Shock and Wheel Bearings

One of the front shockers on my KE70 is worn.
The mechanic told me if it is not replaced,
the wheel bearings will wear out prematurely too.

I wonder if this is the case ?

well in the end if a damper is worn then the other side is probably the same. always replace dampers in matching pairs not individually. do the wheel bearings at the same time with it all off, it wont be much more expensive and saves doing it later.

not sure on the wheel bearing wearing out, but you wouldnt really think it would have that effect from a worn damper? if you fix the dampers you won't have to worry

i dont really see how a rooted shocky can wear out a bearing, but its never a bad idea to replace the lot while its off the road, and you get to play with grease

Logically i cant see it wearing out the bearing any faster. But, then again, im an idiot

I picked up new bearings for my ra23 for like 25-30$ from memory... So worth doing anyway, least you know that ways its done...

It could be possible. I've seen cars driving around with shocks so bad the wheel is bouncing off the ground constantly. The constant loading and unloading on the bearing wouldn't be doing it any good, it would be like repeatedly hitting it with a hammer.

I've heard of this happening on rallycars before but they operate in extreme conditions compared to ordinary road driving. Still if a spring dampener is worn or damaged it should be changed to restore correct suspension movement and braking abilities.

but yeah bearings are cheap 16 bucks each side for the rona struts, all ya need is a hammer and a big fuck off screwdriver to get em out, or if you fancy people invented a bearing puller.

im gumby and cant use one, my mum thinks im cool too

The shock is worn, and needs to be replaced. Replace it, and the question becomes irrelevant - worn shocks are tres mal.

And yes if you left it long enough you could flog out a wheel bearing, but in honesty you'll probably chew up a tyre first and wear out your spring.
Must.... avoid.... urge... to... upgrade... parts I haven't.... used.... yet.....
