Hi,
Mine sits at 78-80 degrees C. When it's a stinking hot day, traffic and the air-con going it can get up to 82 deg C.

mine floats from 77 up to 90*C.
I have a thermofan on mine which is set to switch on at 90*C and off at 86*C, as opposed to the stock clutch fan setup which tends to keep temps down constantly in traffic.
On highway, mine sits at 78-82 constantly.
...... butt scratcher?!
if anything mine takes what i would consider an excessive time to warm up, (over 10 minutes usually), it hovers around the 80 degree mark once there however give or take 2 degrees, just like above
when it did run high, i redid my head gasket and it fixed it.
are you just using straight distilled/demineralised water in the coolant system until you are sure or does it have the glycol(coolant) stuff in there also?
i only just finished installing the motor in the hilux so for now im just using straight tap water. the heads been completly rebuild and rings bearing ect, replaced. I guess ill have to get an aftermarket water temp gauge.Originally Posted by barned01

not that cheap shit thats 65g/L. put something with a nice high concentration so your head doesnt corrode.

its in there for when i started it up. im still getting new hoses and stuff. I'm not driving it anyway its still getting bit and pieces done to it.
yeah matey, if you just want to put water in it to test, grab some demineralised water from woolworths/safeway at the very least.
It only costs 2 or 3 dollars for 4 litres (you need 2), and it is better than tap water, especially after you have spent all that money on reconditioning a head. you also don't care as much when you find something wrong and have to drain it out (yeah been down that path a few times).
with demineralised water only, i was still getting around the 82 degree mark when i built mine.
Yeah might do that. and ill should have the money for the head by thursday. sorry its been taking so long, im a poor bitch.Originally Posted by barned01
