Default What spark plugs for 2JZ with GT35 20psi

I have never changed my plugs. They are probably the ones that came with the car from new. I haven't changed them because they are working perfectly.

Now that I have a big single and want to run 20-22psi I think than they might not be the best heat range and gap etc and possibly electrode material.

What plugs should I go for?

Im no mechanic but i would say the Iridium/Platnium (good quality) plugs suited for your engine but gapped at what your mechanic reccommends.

Stay clear of the iridiums, Had em, used for about 4000 at most. Then I upgraded the injectors dumps intake piping etc etc and they fould in about 3 seconds and left me stranded about 4 time to and from where I was ment to be going! the guy that tuned my PFC dropped in his home brew plugs. Coppers of some kind. He said he'd tried just about every one on the market and says that the cheap arse coppers are the best!

yea i have been using the copper ones and changing them more frequently.

i wonder why your plugs fouled after upgrading your engine, something to do with tuning maybe?

ive been down the road of a few different options and found the best by far for performance and long life at continious high load high temp high boost situation is NGK IRIWAY-8

they are a plug designed specifically for racing, 8 is quite cold for a road / race application so maybe a 7 would be better suited

Some tuning issues yeah, 440's on stock tune, but at the same time the guy that tuned it told me I shouldn't have any problems driving the 440's on Stock ECU. Apparetly hes had 550's with the stock ecu and its been ok. Not good to drive, fkd fuel consumption but drove ok. Just shit plugs in anything but stock situ's.

This is a good topic and one that interests me.

All the articles i have read have always stated that steel olugs provide the best power.

There was an article in Zoom a while ago and they test about 10 different types of plugs on the dyno. The Best were champion steel plugs and they were the cheapest of the bunch !.... go figure.

the standard platinium and iridium types are designed for long life they do little for performance, contrary to what you read in the add's!!

i had the NGK tech specialist guy call around when we were tuning my engine and he gave us all the guff on all the types and what affects performance etc

go the iriways available anywhere by order and they are a super tough plug designed for boosted racing applications, suprised more people havnt heard of them
cost about $15 each from memory, mine have been in the car for 3 years still going strong

yea i dont care about 1 or 2 extra kw but if i can increase the time in between spark plug changes then it would be a bonus.
