    Default SC14 into a ST184

I'm after some advice, Now I'm looking into blowing a 5sfe, seems the cheapest option considering turbo will make the engine blow, yes I know Its been done but its been done by pros and I don't have a spare 5k to turbo a St184, I might as well by a GT4! I'm only after 5-9psi nothing major, I'm just sick of Na and i want some more guts out of the ol' 2 door Camry . So right now I'm looking at the SC14 and I want 175kw is this unrealistic? I want your opinion I don't mind criticism I just want to know if this is possible AND CHEAP!

I've seen it done on an ST204, the guy 'claimed' somewhere over 200kw. As far as I know he was running the SC14, an FMIC, and an SAFC. I don't know how accurate his 200+kw figure was, but if you minus a bullshit percentage, your 175kw sounds realistic

175 kw at the wheels ?
thats a fair bit matey, considering motor only makes 99KW stock at the crank, you will definately need more then the low boost you are looking at, a stock 1st gen 3sgte with a high flowed turbo and 10 pound seems to make 115 to 130 kw at the front wheels, as a small basis to look at. ( my example )
to be honest, you would be better of selling and looking at getting a GT4 in terms of money to power that you are going to have to spend, upgrade zorst, SC, a computer, perhaps upgrades such as clutch, engineering ? you will end up spending the 5k anyway..

200Kw>? lol this is double the Kilowatts the car originally had! I'm dreaming 200kw at the crank! but i know it will take allot of engine work and custom fabrication to get their, "tell him hes dreaming" lol the castle. But not only that It would take allot of doe as well. Another thing would this be cheap to do? 1K is my budget, you reckon i can squeeze one in for that?

1k... unless you put that 1k onto roulette and win, it wont be near enough.
so the car has 99 KW stock at crank, back in what 91 or sumthin ? its 07 ? on standard motor, so gettin on,
couple hundred for the SC14 and that bolted on with an intercooler piping theres your 1k prob at best, if u get sum 2nd hand stuff.
    an ECU,
    exhaust,
    engineer it,
other costs that may arise, ( clutch, brakes, tyres, to pass engineers,)
no offense, but is it school holidays still...
you really need to research all this ALOT better.

Nitro. Your best way to make an extra 100Hp. Sure the engine will prob blow. Sure it doesnt last all that long. Sure you have to set it up and stuff.. Sure its Illegal on the road.

But it'd still prob end up cheaper.

Well truth is i am TPC (treriary preperation certificate, basicaly school for the delinquant at tafe The thing still has as much kick as when it was bought. It takes out st204 somehow and other 5s gen toys out their so its gotta fair bitta kick! Or im just driving it well! The bloke who owned it last kept it well! It polished up alot better with a k&n replacement air filter, new ignition leads and some good ol' engine additive I dunno seems I should just keep it standard but the thing really needs some improvement and i just couldnt be dammed to put a 3sgte in for the dummy ''''gt2''''. Well thanks for you imput i might just save my doe and try to pick up a st185 wide body mmm my insurance is $8975. *evil laugh*

oh btw i might sound like a comlete noob here but exaust on a NA smart or waste of money?

id recommend you look at your priorities for your car.
If performance is a priority then it might be better to start with a different car.

I put money on the later one. You'll be loving it more in the end then a fart cannon and a boom box rattling the car to bits.

When did I say your still at school?

Why not work on making it handle better, suspension, brakes, sway bars etc.

You can do it bit by bit and feel the difference it makes each time.

It might not be that quick in a straight line (its FWD anyway) but it'll be a blast in the hills!

Yea but see Id rather do that to a st185 I mean the st184 is a nice tidy sports car but its just not the sorta car u need to improve, I mean its a boat and all but the thing isnt fast enough. Know wat I mean?

I think I'll go the ricer way just sound and a little paint work maybi. And it wont be a rattle box. Unlike many of my peers I know a fair bit about reverberation eg sound deadedning, speaker choice and Im definetly an autophille I cant stand even the littlest bit of MDA vibrating! The car was suppost to be sound the whole way but....

Insurance, love of cellis, and the need of a fuel miser was the reason I brought the car in the first place. I think I might hang onto it for a while, It is a wrc version after all And the thing was $5,500 with 185 000 on the clock nothing wrong with it straigh body. Yea its always greener on the other side esp when ur mates have GT4's, blown V8 hemmis ect
