I may not be correct on this but isn't the UZ auto the same as the JZ auto?
Cheers Brett.
hey guys im looking to use a 1JZ auto gearbox on the back of my 1UZ.
Main reason is that i will be chasing biggish power from the 1UZ and i think i'd be better off starting with a stronger gearbox in the first place, rather than using the standard soarer 1UZ box.
Does any1 know if the JZ bellhousing will simply bolt onto the JZ gearbox? If not does any1 know of any1 selling the bellhousing i require?
Cheers

you can get bellhousings for gm 400/700 autos
Bellhousing will swap over, I'm 99% sure.
Whether or not the number of teeth on the input shaft(s) are the same or not, you'd have to compare.

Ok sounds good, once my half cut arrives i will be able to check the housings anyway as i already have the JZ box here ready to go, just if someone knew it definantly wouldnt fint i'd order one now to save down time. Also have the torque converter from the JZ that i can use if the splines are incorrect. Unless anyone can see any dramas with that??Originally Posted by CrUZida

JZ torque convertor may not fit UZ flexplate.
It could also be thicker/thinner.
Its going to be a side-by-side comparison to determine whether it will work

Redrill the flexplate
I would not assume that an auto box off a 1JZ is any stronger than one off a 1UZ, there doesnt seem to be any evidence to support that. Maybe MV Autos can confirm?
For a start, we are talking about two boxes here, the A340 and A341
Both boxes were used on both engines at one time or another!
And the only known major internal difference is the A340 has a lower 1st ratio, all other specs like clutches, gears, etc are the same http://www.lextreme.com/34x.html
However, there are differences in things like bellhousings, electronic or mechanical line pressure control, position switches, speedo 'gearing', etc not only between the two different models, but also between the same model used on different cars....
In short, i would say if you have the box that came with your Soarer 1UZ, use that.

The A430E also came behind the 7MGE.
But I can guarentee the internals are very different to the 1JZGTE A430E
