    UPDATE!!!
what ever the mounts were that i used they are not available anymore, so ive got some hilux mounts the same as the ones pictured above.
this changes one important piece of information listed above, these mounts are much stronger in compression than the ones i had so im not going to space the turbo side up like i had to before. ill run with about 5mm of clearance between the turbo and the steering box. i think that with the stiffer mount it wont be a problem like it was before. time will tell.

in other news, the car is on the mend, we are painting the engine bay tomorrow and ill be putting the engine back in on sunday. i have a members ride thread about it which i will put a link to in my sig.

    Sheepers,

Okay so ive used your idea for my gearbox xmember, but am yet to see the engineer.

Have you got a photo of the mounts in place? Or atleast the combination you intend to put them in?

I have the motor and mounts, but the mounts i got are only the 'top' half. From the rubber down has been cut away... Im not to sure how i am going to go about mounting the motor yet as im going to have to modify the xmember to suit the 1j instead of the 1g now...

    Hi guys,

just a quick point for aussies - in nsw if not other states engineers need 10mm clearance around all parts that move, like a motor that rocks.

Sheepers, did you use the standard supra alloy mounts on the motor?

I have custom mounts that came with my 1g, though they wont work, the bushes that i was supposed to use them with looks very much like those ones you've pictured...

However, these on the xmember and against the standard alloy mounts, is no where near tall enough to reach the xmember...

yep, standard alloy 1JZ mounts that bolt to the side of the block.

Im using a xt130 xmember from what ive been told. I just had a play with testing the engine in the car but, and it seems that the engine sits to far forward, so im going to look at having the xmember dropped another 5-10mm to clear a lil more and hopefully get it a bit further back again... Dont really want to have to but might have no choice...

I think mount wise, ill use the design that toy77 has gone with, i realised today that although my xmember is suited to these custom mounts, my custom mounts are designed for my 1j. So something will have to get modified...
I like the way his motor sits, so most likely will be my final choice...

I must talk to a engineer now as i think my most liable option for gbox xmember is your design, i dont really know anyone who could put a custom one together for me...

Hey Guys im actually done this conversion and have got the motor in the car but the allloy part of the mount are not actually the standard supra mounts as they are to short and on the wrong angle i ended up getting a pair of the soarer mounts as they are longer and it fit with no dramas at all.

    Just realised.
What did you do about fuel and clutch lines?

The solid ones are on the wrong side of motor... Did you have new ones made up? Or did you just run extra solid lines around the bay? Or did you use really long braided / rubber? lol

You don't "need" larger fuel lines unless you're planning to have 600hp right off the bat.
