I had set this up a long time ago after a thread such as this.

Ended up being only a handful of regulars then eventually no one. It's a nice thought but from my experience, chatrooms hanging off forums just don't get visited.

I think instead of going to the extent of modifying the Toymods website to accomodate a chatroom just put a sticky at the top of the 'off topic' forum with a title like "Want to chat with other Toymodders?" ....go in there and there is a locked post with a link to the Gabbly version of Toymods.
It should remember your chosen username for next time you return (unless you clear your history etc) and its free. The only downside I can see to it is that there cannot really be a moderator in there....though I havent looked in to if you can get any sort of moderator privelages for it.

The flash chat over on supramania.com works pretty well. Had 18 people in it last night

The chat link is incorporated into the links at the top of the forum page, where search, quick links, log out, etc are. Then we have a "Chat thread" in the OT section that gets periodically 'bumped' when people are wanting to chat, or to get more people in chat.
