What gearbox is this?

I have a gearbox which came off an 18rg, in an ra28. Im am wanting to sell this gearbox and am not sure how to tell for sure what it is in order to sell it. I assume its a w50, is there any markings on it which may help me identify it? Thanks.

my first guess would be w50, unless its the super rare p51 check your build/spec plate it will say "trans axle: w50 082T"

or somthing of the sort

It's either going to be a W50 (steel case) or W55/57/58 (alloy case). A magnet will tell you which is which.

Good idea, i didn't think of that. Thanks Norbie. These are the boxes that are commonly put behind holden 6's etc arent they? Any idea what they are worth? Its in good condition.

As for the magnet test, bellhousing is alloy, intermediate section is steel and the rear section is alloy? Is this what would be defined as a steel case?

Yes. The case of the gearbox itself is steel, other components are alloy.
