Ok, so i got bored on my day off and decided to put the info i gatherd to good use on my trip to orange from Gympie.. all in the 1 day. bare with me this is a pic intensive post. first, is a suggested root.

ok, second, this is past the border, all the towns u could stop at, also the flags are way points i set on the GPS every hour.. so yeah each flag resembles an hour. the map starts at Goondiwindi. there is a huge 24 hr truck stop 10k's outside of there.. see pic.

i suggest getting fuel there. as the next 24 hr truck stop that i know of is 4hrs away. (Gilgandra) and thats only an hour shy of dubbo. so yeah probs stop in Narrabri. any way, heres the way point map...The final flag is Orange. i didnt go from Brisbane because we took a differant root to you guys. but yeah, here it is..

with each of those flags there is a photo to go with it, i was very bored, spending 24hrs strait driving tends to make u do silly stuff like that. theres lots of nice country inbetween here and there i'd like to add, if you's have time i'd suggest you's stop and have a geezer, i really wish we could of. but as it was, we left at 3am and got home at 3am the next morning.. Why u ask? Because my brother wanted to look at a car.. that turned out to be a heap of shit! woo! but yeah, have a good time, drive safely.

One year the starting point was at the Gailes road house (shell servo), and that was at 4am or something. Seemed to be a good meetup spot at that time, don't know whether it would be crowed in the arvo or night.

do we have a departure time yet? leaving when still light, or at night time?

Adam: i think thursday traffic on Ipswich road will be pretty ordinary... but leaving later than last year it might not be so bad. Wilbo was proposing a 7pm departure.

somewhere that has food and toilets and significant parking and is on the way to Ipswich Road for everyone?

The servo at the Oxley Rd Roundabout - opposite the Pub (and it's the exit off the freeway to ABC Wreckers at Oxley)?

Route works for me!! can i suggest TWO locations for long stops (e.g. sleep or something for 2+ hours):
-Goondiwindi (park on the edge of the truck parking area or if there's a caravan area at the BP after fueling up)
-Narrabri (southern side of town had petrol station?)

Coonabarabran as an alternative if we're all feeling good (tho the petrol station coming into town from the North should be avoided as it was just gross)

will be heading down the Pac Hwy towards Kempsey to collect XR Pilot, and then bear west towards Tamworth and head inland. we'll probably be a few hours behind you guys though, so you'll probably be already half-tanked by the time we get there.

i just noticed the route going via Toowoomba instead of Warwick (good idea as the Warwick-Inglewood-Goondi road sucks) - good idea.

Maybe we should do a detour past Jamie's place and annoy his neighbors?

seriously: the Toowoomba Range and the Harristown exit from Toowoomba usually has speed cameras in the holiday season. Also the 80Kmh bridge east of the BP/Maccas coming into Gatton also.

I agree with this suggestion, I'm getting too old for all-nighters and the last thing I want to do is fall asleep at the wheel and munt up my shiny black limo.

See you all tomorrow night, don't forget your UHF radios!

Has a UHF channel been decided?

    How about ch 16?

The shell website has a handy feature to enter a start and destination to show the servos encountered on the way. from oxley to dubo it has these listed, they are all supposed to have V-pooer (98octane)

10.55 km 1841 GOODNA COLES EXPRESS Cnr Cunningham Hwy & Cross St Goodna 4300 QLD
118.31 km 1868 WARWICK COLES EXPRESS Cnr Albion & Percy Streets Warwick 4370 QLD
283.94 km 1782 GOONDIWINDI COLES EXPRESS 10 Mclean Street Goondiwindi 4390 QLD
296.19 km 1819 BOGGABILLA COLES EXPRESS Newell Highway Boggabilla 2409 NSW
372.17 km 1866 COLES EXPRESSMOREE Cnr Balo St & Gwydir St Moree 2400 NSW
418.17 km EDGEROI FUEL SHOP Newell Hwy Edgeroi 2390 NSW

Interestingly BP has more-or-less the same facility
    Name Address Town Phone Distance(Km)
    BP Oxley 945 Oxley Rd Oxley 07 3278 0211 0.4
2 BP Wacol Truck Stop Cnr Boundary Road & Progress Rd Wacol 07 3271 1885 6.0
    3 BP Express Goodna 237 Brisbane Rd Goodna 07 3818 0511 9.5
    4 BP Aratula 6712 Cunningham Hwy Aratula 07 5463 8233 63.4
    5 BP Moree Truckstop Newell Hwy Moree 02 6752 6200 353.9
    6 BP Narrabri 65 Cooma Rd Narrabri 02 6792 4427 439.0
    7 BP Clydebank Fitzroy & Cobra Sts Dubbo 02 6884 8545 669.1

    9 BP West Dubbo 98 Victoria St Dubbo 02 6882 2688 670.9

unfortunately the shortest route these sites have suggested is a little different to the one posted coming from the Whereis site.

here's a more complete list of bp servos for the toowoomba route:
