So car is stationary and the brake pedal pulses back at you when depressed?
Hey guys,
Just a question regarding brakes.
At idle, there is a vibrating/pulsation feeling coming through the brake pedal. Doesn't seem to be so obvious when braking, but definetly there when holding the brakes at rest. Should I be concerned?
Thanks
Kind Regards,
Kurt.

Yep..sitting at the lights or whatever.. It's not a consistant pulse however.

This would suggest fluctuating vacuum in the brake booster. Check for leaks and make sure the one-way valve is functioning correctly.

is your idle smooth?

Yeah it smooth in terms of rpm's..sits there constantly..but every now and then, a thud comes through the exhaust..like a pop..not sure if it's related.
Do these check require removal of the booster? Ive never check it before.

this thud
does it come at a similar time to the pulsation?
for the pedal to pulsate is an issue with vacuum.
which is either caused by erratic idle not giving a consistant vacuum or its a vacuum leak going to the booster or in the booster itself.
first up, if the pulsation is completely unrelated to the exhaust thud, i would be inspecting the vacuum line to the booster for any leaks etc and check the one way valve is working correctly (take it off and blow in each end. should only be able to blow one way)

Yeah the thud doesn't really correlate to the pulsation. The feeling in the pedal is there constantly when idling...and possibly there when braking aswell, but can't really feel it.
I'll check the valve and the hoses.
If those seem to be ok, is there anything internally in the booster that may require a freshen up?
Cheers!

never done one myself but looked at diagrams etc. look like an arse of a job.
if you have a workshop manual it should have a diagram of the booster and other related things
