for sale stuff in signature?

just wondering if you can put links for stuff that is for sale in your signature??

i got the sufficient rep to post in classifieds so i cant see a problem but i remember that someone already got a reaming for putting for sale stuff in signature? maybe they didnt have high rep anyway?


on another note - i also find it annoying to give some reputation to someone and then get put back to the forum index page. the thread and place you were up to is then lost

Personally i dont't see an issue, it is for this reason i haven't put stuff for sale in my signature (dont have the rep to use for sale section)

would it apply to wanted ads in your sig? you would get much more exposure this way, and you can pick up stuff that people don't need, rather than stuff they want to sell.

Someone posted in another thread that you can just hit the back button twice and you are back in the right spot.

There is no ad's allowed in Signitures at all. Not even for club members.

It's not allowed because then it allows people to bypass having sufficient rep. If it were allowed then people would just keep posting and people would see the stuff for sale in their signature. If people with sufficient rep (such as yourself brett) did it then people could just assume it was allowed. Newcomers to the forum might think it was an acceptable practice and this would just lead to more confusion. That's why it is only allowed in its appropriate area and nowhere else

It's not just about the rep system, it's essentially spamming the forums in a round-about way.. We wouldn't allow people to post an advertisement in every thread they reply to, but by doing so in your signature it's much the same thing..

Either way, it's written ON the page where you edit your sig within the User CP:

Signatures must be no more than 5 lines of text at 1024x768. Advertising is not allowed in signatures:

Going by the forum law

Signatures must be no more than 5 lines of text at 1024x768. Advertising is not allowed in signatures

Wanted ads are still ads (hence the name ) so I guess they're ruled out until the mods tell us otherwise.
