Its good to see that alot of you guys have your head around the fact that a rising rate reg is a waste of time and is better left to bench racers that think they are of some benifit !!!

A RRFPR will introduce to many variables in to the equation when try to tune a engine.
And a constant fuel pressure on a well prepared setup will always come out in front !

This is not to discourage you PETE as in your sitch you may not have too much of an option. However your safc should support biger injectors.

actually, the suggestion of lower idle fuel pressure combined with RRFPR would get around the problem of larger injectors trying to idle with the factory idle pulse-widths.

Is still a messy way of getting more power with the same ECU - are you sure you can't squeeze a decent ECU into you budget-upgrade plan?

OK just to simplify this to the point of ridiculous

    [KISS method]

If idle is the problem and lower fuel pressure for idle correction has been suggested. It seems possible to have an idle friendly fuel return pressure valve organised to be opened via solenoid controlled ball valve.ie open at zero throttle and closed when off zero throttle.

    Any good?

There's guys in the US with megsaquirt ECU's running blown 1 and 2JZs, even 1UZs .. - USD$219 (unbuilt) or USD$430 (built) - both with with 3bar MAP sensor.

    or a Haltech E6X? - $1400(rrp)

MYO wiring loom to connect to (factory) 2 VR sensors, 2 temp sensors, 1 TPS, standard igniter, standard injector connectors, standard Idle valve - $100? $200?

Tuning - $100/hr, starting out with base map and firmware from somewhere on MSextra.com. Surely 10 hours over 2 days would be enough (except for tuning cold-start warmup enrichments)?

Satisfaction of knowing how to wire your own efi engine - priceless.

What i have read about the megasquirt including seeing group buys on components always interested me but im really unskilled with electronics.

Also this is a finishing up operation. The car has been ultra reliable with the current setup at 302rwhp from the first tune and its just that all components are good for around 360rwhp except fuel.So im just trying to get the pkg working at its peak without really developing it any further.

Im confident the answers probably lie in the info our friends have posted in this thread.Just need a little time to study and pick a few peoples brains and the power will be there with a minimum outpouring of cash.[i hope]

Many thanks again for peoples ideas and opinions posted.Cheers.Pete.
