    Default 4agze drive train loss

Hey guys just quickly, i recently got my car dynoed and i have found that i have a 20% power loss from my flywheel to the wheels. Just wondering if that normal for a fwd as i have been told its not by mates. I am not to sure what gearbox i am running but its an open diff.

20% sounds reasonable, maybe slightly high. AW11 is 17% drivetrain loss.

May not just be drivetrain loss. If th engine is not a freshly built/rebuilt example, it is likely to have lost some power over the years/kilometres it has traveled. 20% does sound fairly reasonable.

How do you know its got a 20% loss? are you basing it on the factory figure and did you use 100 octain fuel??
The factory does there HP on an egine dyno and thats without peripherals, so as is well known, the chassis dyno is a tuning tool and you would be hard pressed to match the factory flywheel figure.
If its a fresh rebuild it will be tight!

It's a shame I have to agree with kingmick

As well as what he said, Toyota are known for their over zealous power ratings from their engines.

Yer i am basing it on the factory to what i got at the wheels on the dyno.It worked out to be around 20% loss. But funning thing is my car isnt stock its got a nevo , fmic , ecu and zorst system , and its pulling the same power figures as a freshly rebuilt stock 4agze

There is no way you can really use the factory figure !
You are trying to compare apples to oranges! now you can see why dyno's are for tuning not power figures, besides a ballpark figure.
Many people have upgraded there setup and gone backwoulds in power on a different dyno.If you really want to know, pay the extra and put it on an engine dyno or take it down the quarter mile a few times!

yes I agree with King mick, even without acounting for the variables in the dyno readings of the day there is also the issue of how it was tested at the time. 20v engines are a good example, they say 118kw reality is more like 108kw
