    Default 7MGTE Overheats

I just recently had a replacement 7MGTE fitted and it overheats. The Headgasket and timing belt was replaced. The radiator is only two months old new raidator cap new water pump thermos working and fan clutch normal function and no leaks on any hoses new thermostat also. I found that workshop X removed all accessories off my old motor and in doing so snapped the water temperature send pins in half and it causes a faulty signal. They also broke an engine mount due to no using a bolt on the back bracket and left off some bolts to intercooler piping earth strap and electrical contections to heater unit and also timming was out by four degrees now at 10 dbtdc

Sorry for the off topic Hijack

Another quality mechanic. You should post up their details so no one else gets done by them. Leaving bolts off engine mounts is unforgivable.

The amount of attention that P platers get for accidents etc sucks. Makes you wonder how often dodgy mechanics are to blame for accidents.

When you say overheating what exactly happens? Does it overheat at idle? During heavy load? Does the temp gauge go all the way to the top and not come down again? Does it go up and slowly come back down again? I've recently had overheating issues with my 7M-GTE(which are now fixed) and a few causes were: shit thermostat, shitty old water pump, semi-dodgy thermofan wiring(my fault!), crud in the rad and bubbles in the system.

First I'd make sure that your thermostat is good, I've had generic thermostats die very, very quickly(Been through 3 in the last 9 months), so go and buy a Toyota 82deg thermostat for it(JDM cars came with the 82's, ADM cars had 88/89's). Then, go and flush the system putting in a 50/50 mix of distilled and Toyota Red and get it fully bled. I've also found that it can sometimes take a few hot/cold cycles to get all the bubbles out.

I'd also suggest you get a new water temp sender...
