Hi All,
Well snapped an axle, so have to go get some more and get them shortened (shortened ae86 diff in a ke25, anyway...)
After a fair bit of searching i cant find much information on the bearings.
They are a 35x72x45 (IDxODxlength), not short what sort of bearing they are and they have KOYO DAC357245CWRS
I hear toyota bearings a stupid expensive, and i would like to know what alternative manufactures can supply a suitable bearing.
Can the collars be pulled of and pressed back on or do they have to be ground off and replaced?
Thanks peoples
Logan

Well, given that the original bearing is around AU$70 each, and that a similar sized bearing which i have ordered in the past for an application was around AU$40 from a generic bearing supplier i would think that it is around the $40-50 mark. Still hellishly expensive.

cheapest price in NZ thru my bearing suppliers is 105 bucks a side! bugger me!!!
Ouch, you get stiffed. Then again i enquired with CBC and while they couldnt give me an exact price as their computers were down, they estimated in the AU$50 range.

Try AndyC on the Club K forums (http://www.club-k.co.nz/Forums/index.php), He recently got the correct bearings for a member there so will know the correct part numbers and cheapist option. He is Auckland based.

bearings supplied by toyota are koyo brand. that part number has changed to a newer one, with a different support internally for the balls. any Koyo dealer can get them if you give him that number. i doubt you will get Koyo (Toyota) spec ones for A$50 as I have a good buying power with by Koyo dealer and my last cost was about that price, so i expect retail will be a lot higher. A no-name brand may be cheaper, buts an unusual bearing, so you may not get a choice. your bearing dealer sould be able to supply the lock rings also. you need a press to remove the bearings
That was for the CBC "own" brand, which i cant remember the name of, and it was the list one for the Koyo part number on the bearing. Personally i wasnt interested in replacing them, but just was curious to see how much they were and so enquired when i picked up a stock order.
Can you tell us how much you would normally charge for the Koyo bearing, and the new part number.
