EFI differences (TT has EFI2 sperate for pump and NA doesn't)
Hey guys and girls New to here but thought I'd share my project with you.
Pics and info of my car can be found HERE
Basically the car is a 1998 toyota supra SZR and I decided I wanted some more power, so off I went looking for a VVTi 2JZ with loom and ECU. Yes it was going to be expensive but I had been told about emissions and that you have to have an engine the same year or newer than your car.
Then came across the best buy ever! A 1999 VVTi 2JZ out of a supra with loom and ecu, also intake and AFM (VVTi has AFM not MAP) for $4000.
SO away I went and got some parts together:
-Blitz LM V-Spec Front Mount Intercooler Kit
-RPS Sport 6-puck Clutch with Sprung Hub
-RPS Cyn-R-G Segmented Flywheel
-OEM Clutch/flywheel gear
-Full exhaust system with tune agent dump pipe
-3" metal cat
-OEM Twin Turbo Tacho and 3 gauge cluster (NA tacho won't work due to dizzy vs coil)
-TT Fuse box (Going the EFI2 route)
All was good until the guy I was getting the 2JZ off decided was easier if I got his other VVTi 2JZ (Aristo) so we decided a price and now I have to get a few extra things, like water pump, change sump and still going to get his loom and ecu (as he is going motec and single)
So at the moment the engine should arrive this week and my 2jzge is ready to pull out.
I have had not much mechanical knowledge and done all the work myself so far, with the help of sf.com.au and MSN, (Thanks Curtis, Dave and Keith)
Anyway enough talking will slowly update where I'm up to so be sure to come and vist for more pics.
Also after some parts such as: (Some VVTi specific)
Fan Shroud-
Fan No.2
Thermostat-
Gasket-
Water Pump-
TT Clutch Master Cylinder-
Fuel filter-
VVTi Throttle cable-
Radiator hose bottom-

Nice supra. Should be sweet when your all done! Is there a reason why you didnt just sell yours and buy a TT? Yours looks awesome either way! Will you be upgrading the brakes and suspension? What is the colour code for your car, i would love that colour on my rolla.

Well the supra I wanted was going to cost me around $40k all up (Genuine RSP RZ), so I decided I would do the conversion as I got the car for a very good price and it already has the getrag and REAS suspension, also the carbon fibre steering wheel.
Will be upgrading the brakes to the 4 pot supra brakes once the conversion is complete, got some steel braded lines to go with them. As far as suspension goes I will be probably upgrading to some aftermarket springs as I like the REAS system.
The colour code is (6NO) Moonstone, not quicksilver
If your car is 98 it should already have the big brakes?

No it was an optional extra, wish I had it! At the time I brought mine there was another one for sale in RSP with big brakes, but I didn't realise until after my purchase, didn't matter anyway as it was $4000 grand extra.Originally Posted by Norbie
Just a quick update:
Picked up my headlights from Melbourne headlight exchange yesterday and was very, very happy with the finished product, the lady said they were some of the best kept lights she had seen, she always was used to ones really bad so only cost me $140 for the pair, well worth it.
The engine will finally be here on Monday or Tuesday depending on how busy the company is, so will have my 2jzgte sitting in the garage very shortly, just need to get my 2jzge out!
Almost all the other stuff OEM parts are organised such as:
VVTi throttle cable (fly-by-wire) - Thanks Draven
Radiator shroud and fans- Thanks Harley
Still have to contact a guy about PWR steering reservoir and master clutch cylinder (heat shield) but I am flat broke atmo! Also found out that the soarer jzz30/31 are the same too.
Also need to order few things from toyota like water pump etc etc.
Pretty much is all the parts but can't confirm until they are sitting in front of me.
Some pretty pics of the clean lights So clean you can see some ugly dude takin some pics! I also manage to get some Jim beams in the pics all the time too!

Wow, should of really updated this thread, been a while, so flat out totally forgot
Got my water pump, thermo, gaskets and fuel filter, power enterprise timing belt, titan cam gear, greddy double pod for gauges. (boost and oil pressure)
Got following parts coming:
Power steering reservoir
Relay block no.5 (has trac and abs relays)
Relays for radiator fans
Air intake and pod (custom for AFM)
Injectors (Stock)
Supra loom
Other stuff
Some pics of the engine! Yes it arrived!
Found out 97+(VVTi) aristo engines are almost same as supra ones, has same water pump, t/b and plenum, same vaccum piping, has brake booster fitting etc etc
Also swapped dampners over from NA to TT, also swapped pwr steering pumps as the aristo one has a solenoid valve on it.
2jzge will be coming out this weekend with the transmission, also will take clutch out and hopefully install, need to get my hands on torque wrench, also need to install timing belt and cam gear.
With dampner

I Love the Supras all lined up down the street.
Looks great.
The Neighbours would have gotten a hell of a shock.
Andrew
Yes supra down the street did gather some attention, especially in a small town
UPDATE ENGINE OUT! WOOT!
Sorry you guys get delayed updates, just don't have heaps of time atmo!
Removed mount bolt
Removed fuel line (union bolt)
Removed pwr steering
Removed nuts on propellor shaft
Removed rear support for transmission
Then we jacked up the transmission
Got the crane and pulled the engine out
Happy, wasn't too bad to pull out, just a shit jack underneath and propellor shaft came off where I didn't think it would (Came off the intermediate shaft!, Hope the allignment is allright!)
Also have to drill new hole for oil return when other sump comes.
Also got torque wrench (200nm)

BIG UPDATE! (WELL FOR ME)
Ok, well today was a very productive day for me, in the end I had a mate come by and give me a hand put on snap rings on the clutch on and get the sump off finally.
Todays efforts:
Removed bracket and engine mount from exhaust side off NA
Removed transmission
Removed clutch
Installed RPS clutch (with new snap rings, throw out bearing)
Removed sump/oil pickup and baffle
Probably other shit too!
Well list isn't huge, but took a little time, clutch install was pretty easy apart from stupid snap rings, so hard to get on, but got there! (yes i used new ones)
And finally got sump off, thank god, now just have to send it off to get swapped.
Only thing that feels different when I installed clutch was the clutch fork, when the stock unit was in there I could move it back and forward and the clutch would move, but now It doesn't??? Maybe the clutch cover has to be hooked up to the flywheel so it can engage properly first?
Anyway here are a huge amount of pics as usual, anyone recommend what sort of grease to use on transmission spline and clutch fork, maybe thats why the fork won't move that well.
Clutch and flywheel looked in good nic, I'm no mechanic but it seems to have a lot of meat on it. Also can anyone tell if this is exactly the same as the TT clutch, doesn't worry me, but good to know, seems to look the same. Clutch/Pressure plate and dual mass flywheel will be for sale soon too.
Felt like I learnt a lot today, a big thanks to my mate Ben for getting me through the last hour of work today, also got leand of torque wrench, getting airgun next weekend for timing belt and cam gear install.
Transmission off!
Stock flywheel
Stock clutch
Stock pressure plate

Project update:
Last night was shit, only swapped rear main seal, put in pilot bearing.
Attempted to get crank bolt off with no luck, also attempted to use one aristo bracket with supra mount, found out that won't work, also rounded a bolt on one of the aristo engine bracket mounts.
Also to get to one of the bolts I have to remove the oil filter/cooler assembly.
Oh and dual mass flywheel is off the GE, those things are heavy!
SO sort of stuck atmo, any help or tips appriciated!
