Howdy,
After a 10 hour trip in a celsior and then hopping into my ma61, ive noticed all extra road noise and cabin drone in my car. Has anyone played with putting in new sound absorbsion/deadener to make their older car sound a bit 'newer' ?

As opposed to the usual matting stuff? Expensive?Originally Posted by TurboRA28

bitumise your wheel arches with a paint on stuff (A LOT of the noise comes from tyre noise).
I used bitumised felt underlay under my carpet for the floor pan.
there is something you can put on your firewall and under your bonnet (temp resistant sticky foam sheets).
have a good look under your car, possibly rebitumise that with the paint on stuff
use sound deadener sheets in your door skins, and on the underside of the roof (the ones i have played with are effing heavy and i would be afraid to put them anywhere actually, maybe a more lighter material can be found).
if it is anything like my ra40, most of the shell doesn't have deadener on it.
you can buy some stuff from bunnings that is used seal roof tiles to other objects and cover holes that is supposed to be a reasonable alternative to the proper stuff, i think it is called FlashTac or something like that.
after you have done this take your car to a weigh bridge and see if your car now weighs the same as a celsior
