    Default JZX81 A340E vs MX83 A340E

Just trying to get some clarifaction in the difference between a A340E from a JZX81 and a MX83

Other then the Bell housing's is there any difference?

Because atm we have a 7MGTE auto in a MX83, and have been able to find a nice A340E from a jzx81.

The only things i heard were that the torque converter wouldn't bolt up to a 7mgte flex plate... but i have bolted one up as i have a jzx81 a341le in my garage.

So other then that does anyone else know any differences?

The turbo autos have stronger internals to handle the torque, eg extra clutch packs, but apart from that they're pretty much the same. If you just swap the bellhousings that should work fine.

yeh that was the plan, the other one was the Torque converter, which bolts up to the flex plate so im assuming that would be fine to.

you may find the wiring may be differant. which could intern make a problem inside the box

    for example:
I had an 30 42LE jza70 auto, I got a 30 40LE jzz30 auto, very similar, but the wiring was differant, so i had to swap the box loom from my 3042 to the 3040, once i got inside the box to change the loom i found the supra box had only 3 solenoids while the soarer one had 4 solenoids. so i intern swapped the valve bodies over so I could swap the wiring over.

in the end it all worked fine. but its these kinda differances that you kinda don't find till later. Obviosly I had to swap as my computer probably wouldn't know how to control the 4th solenoid.

The JZX81 box has a speed sensor on the O/D outer ring (front of box) - the MX83 does not.
The JZX81 box should have an ABS speed sensor, the MX83 may have depending on variant.
Both boxes should have a standard speedo cable style speedo drive, with some MX83s having a cable, the rest having an electronic speed sensor.
Both boxes should have 3 solenoids.
The gear selector switch should be the same.
