    Default 4age head bolt tool?

    Hi all,

I've done a search and found limited info. I need to know what is the correct tool to remove headbolts from a 4age (1991 corolla SX). They are a torx style or external star head bolt but there is limited room to get past the cam follower buckets. I read somewhere in one of my searches that somebody suggested a 12 sided 10mm socket. This may work but I would prefer the correct tool.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Muzza

Use a deap 10mm socket. Get one in 1/2 drive and look for one that has a longer smaller bit (if that makes sense) I got mine from repco and it did the job fine.

You just need a double hex socket not a single hex socket.

They are a double hex bolt just like your timing belt tensioner, so just use a 10mm doub;e hex socket, no problem.

Note, they are NOT an allen key bolt. The allen key caps on the head are for oil gallery points. Ignore these.

Most 3/8" drive sockets are 12 point, get a 10mm 3/8" socket and a 3/8" to 1/2" adapter and it should all be fine.

Thanks guys. It seems that the 10mm double hex is the go. Will go pick one up!
