    Default 4m engine woes

I installed a 5m dizzy and have got it working etc etc, but now I have a problem with the engine in that I can get it to start and turn over but it dies as soon as I release the key from the start position. I can keep the car running as long as I hold it in the start position. Any ideas as to what could be wrong?
i feel much better now that ive given up hope

either ballast resistor or my bet, a loose wire on the back of the key barrel, try running a wire direct from the battery to the input (insert correct term here) side of the balast resistor after the engine catches if it runs then its not the resistor, try fidleing with the key a little bit when you let it go back to 'on' the 22 needs to be helped back a tiny amount otherwise it will do was you describe

running the wire direct from the batter to the + made it work, guess i need to go source a new resistor. thanks for the help skiddz.

did ya run it to the coil or the resistor? if the to the coil worked and to the resistor didnt then that is the case, but if it works both times then its your key barrel

take the bits off see if you can get the barrel off and re solder the wires

well i looked at the wires on the barrel and they all seem to be ok

can exactly see from that, though i noticed that the key doesn't lock in the barrel. You can take it out anytime regardless of the position its in. Could that be causing the problem?
thanks for all your help so far skiddz

ummm get a multimetre on there, and see if there is any where especially in the 'on' position where there is no reading on the mutlimetre, that will be the source of you problems, if that dont work then...... i dunno perhaps input from one of our electronics gurus? karlson? owen? anyone?

have you fixed it yet? i reckon the coil is wired into the start position instead of the on position. Thus, not getting power when you let the key go.
