I went aluminium for my FMIC piping. Dave if you haven't got your FMIC piping done yet I've got the number to a guy that can get you Aluminium and mild steel manderal bent in most sizes for F all. YOu just need to cut to suit and either weld or silicon them together.

If you got the Aluminium way I can help you out with welding beads around the edge to avoid blowing them. I've welded my aluminium intake piping together with some positioned joiners, but I'm not sure If would fancy welding the compressed side together for you in case it leaked, blew or worse.

Just PM me if you'd like some help or the number.

    Haha, Dave teh n00b.

Can't go wrong with the GT everyone's been recommending, although everyone seems to be missing the fact that you want little more than stock power. You could probably go a little smaller to get the power you want, with even more of a "big cube" feel to the power delivery.

That said, personally I'd run with the 35 as it'll do modest outputs very well and also has the scope for increasing boost to 'fully sick' levels later on.

...mind you this is all coming from the owner of an old-school non-watercooled turbocharger!

at the TCC dyno day on the weekend (was over 40 degress in the shop) we saw a stock 2JZGTE make +240RWkW, jut with some extra boost and exhaust.

if all your after is a little more than stock...

still recomend the GT4082 compressor. if loocking for a new reasonably priced turbo.

    Cheers

GT3540 or a T04Z both cars I've been in with this combo, spooled around 3500 and made a whole lota fun power through the range.

I reckon the GT3582R is the best turbo for every engine. Unless you can fit two GT3582R's on it

If you really do want as low a power level as the stock gear then a GT3076R would get you maybe a 1000rpm better spool. You'll just have to sell it when it's time to get a GT3582R though

You must be kidding! After Jesses 2J cressy efforts I've come to the opinion that the standard 2J turbos are shite. Sequential or non sequential both seem way too laggy, and a pain in the ass to do anything to (eg. fit a bleed valve).

2Js are awesome, 2J turbos are shit. But maybe I'm just too used to the extra responsive 1J turbos...

Of course I was - I thought the smoke puffing would've given it away, but even Dave thought I was serious

Had I known I'd be purchasing the IS200 a week after selling the sprinter the blown turbo would have never been rebuilt - wisdom of retrospect...

They still produce more low rpm torque (relatively speaking, taking into account capacity) than 1JZ parallel setups. From a technical perspective, I'd rather have two BB turbos in a sequential setup than a large single turbo on a non-VVTi engine (cost is always the other perspective).

Eh? You must have driven a broken 2JZ, the stock sequential system doesn't have anything approaching lag! Spool time is way quicker than a 1JZ.

As for the bleed valve, it's no harder than any other turbo engine - you just gotta know which line to hook into.

I dunno, maybe it's because the boost is wound up to 17 pounds, but only kicks in with the second turbo, as the first is limited to ten or so. And it might have something to do with the aristo ECU, apparently it's much much better with a supra ECU, but I havn't driven it with that yet.
And the bleed valve is a homo to get to with the hydraulic water pump in the way, I had to remove the turbo outlet Y pipe to get to it. With the non-hydro water pump it'd be a piece of piss.

2JZR31 on PF has an internally gated GT35 on one. I'd imagine the main issue will be longevity of the welds.
