wtf - thats pretty big power
i thought mine was making good power for a stocker - ive been outdone![]()

Was just googling info on the SW20 3SGE and came across this site. It looks like this guy has gotten 132rwkw (if i'm reading it correctly) from a Gen 3 3SGE. That's pretty cool considering they're around 100-110rwkw stock.

The main mods I can see are a bigger throttle body (from a beams engine?), but what i found interesting was the 'power deck':
Its a spacer that makes the ACIS chamber bigger? So when the ACIS kicks in (switching to the short runners) it has a bigger plenum than stock.
(7200rpm is rev-limit on the stock ecu)
The translation says that the rest of the engine is stock standard (even the exhaust)?

Just thought i'd share the love!

plus that dyno graph looks typed up not a scan or image - hmmm
i like his idea of stacking the plenum with a spacer though.

hey andy - any idea on what the stock gen 3 ecu uses to control the acis?
my point is do you think that since i am running the microtech, the acis is really not even in effect at the moment?
or is it a vaccuum \mechanically controlled setup which is irrespective of ecu control?
got me thinking now

Agreed its an excel dyno graphOriginally Posted by trd3sg

Also interesting is the power hasn't really peaked as its still climbing quite rapidly at the limiter![]()
If in doubt power out
Hmm... looks like all the pictures I linked stopped working? (noticed they don't work unless you visit the site first)
Yeh, i thought that about the graph too. He could've gotten the graph on disk from the dyno operator? I know that's what we did at the last Bennica dyno day (Nim made a cool comparison website thing with it!).
edit - when i last dynoed my car with the gen 3 the power only peaked about 750 rpm before the rev limiter, so if this guy has made the TB bigger it'd be believeable that it doesn't peak till later. Also, the MR2 has more power than the celica by default due to its shorter exhaust.
The ACIS has a vacuum actuator but i think its switched by an ECU controlled VSV. When I turn the ignition to 'on' the actuator does a little self test thing, cycles closed-open-closed. Does your ECU have any unused analogue outputs? It'd be easy to set up too, do a dyno run with it off and one with it on, then set the switch point to the rpm where the two graphs cross each other.

All looks very interesting!
I have seen this Powerdeck thing before, some posted about it on Celicatech (I think) ages ago. I saved the link to my favorites:

Looks like the same thing.
Always had it in the back of my mind that I'd like to look into it one day......certainly seems like a simple add on for a few extra HP.
Like the look of that larger throttle body too, as you said Andy it would have to be off a Beams or something. Looks identical to our Gen 3 one in every way bar the diameter, and would be a bolt in replacement.
So who's going to try this first??![]()
Matt
yeah ive got an unused auxilary on my microtech lt10s (thank god its a lt10 otherwise i would only have had 1 with the lt8)
i will definitely look to hooking this up - dont know if it will be useful or worthwhile once i turbo it (couple of weeks)
what u think andy

oh reppage for you! great find!!@you could alternatively just machine the throttle body out to 62mm like hes saying instead of finding a larger TB from a BEAMS (which would be like finding tits on a bull)

So, who's gonna make a 'powerdeck' up instead of buying one? AS im putting my engine together i think i'll draw up/ trace an outline and possibly take it to a metal fab place. What ya reckon? HOw much difference between the g2 and g3 plenums?Anyone know? And also TBs?
yeah im goin to build one now.. cant hurt..
EPC code for that plenum gasket is 17315-88460 Price is about $16.60
Just ordered the last one in Oz
I'll scan it in when i get it and make a template cutout for the fabrication then post it here...

madness!![]()
We were discussing it up at the workshop this morning, there's two ways you could go about it - marking out the holes, trace the outline and then mill out the center section, or scanning the top plate into CAD and pump it out on the CNC mill. Guesstimated it to cost about ~$150 all up. Might give it a go if i can pick up a chunk of material on the cheap.
which would make it having more power than a beams celica motor ,they only make about 112 kws at back wheels mr2 mode or same at fwd celica mode altezza make about 122 kws at back wheels
this would be the best way i reckon. is that 150 for the R&D or per cut?Originally Posted by AndyTTR

Also how do u scan the top plate into AutoCAD? i might take it off on the weekend and do it![]()

u know what? im gonna try get this done on saturday for before the dyno day run
30mm sounds good - gotta size up the studs though from a bolt shop to extend it by 30mm each
