Default Where to look for a build plate?

OK so I'm really curious about the trans/axle codes in the Century, but the build plate is nowhere to be found in the engine bay. Has anyone come across a later-model Toyota with the build plate in some weird location, eg in the cabin somewhere? I know some vans have it near the passenger seat under the carpet, but I don't want to go randomly pulling the interior apart if I can avoid it. Any tips?

It's under the engine - Bring the car down to my place and we'll take the engine out - You look for the number while I hold the engine for you.
(Got a 1UZ here that I've grafted four extra carboard cylinders onto, he'll never notice!)

FYI not in reference to the Century But Toyota Echo's have them in the boot in the spare wheel well, very hard to find unless you know where to look.

So yes they do like hiding them
    If in doubt power out

I like Bill's method, but I'll try looking in the boot first.

If you can't even find the build plate then it's just as well you're not modifying it... what a n00b.
