you might want to research a bit about the piston sizes.
4pots < than single pot, due to smaller area.

unless they are mated to a larger disc, are you actually gaining anything?

Actually FC calipers are heavier than the JDM AE86 calipers. And they dont fit under 14" rims.
The biggest advantage is for the circiut racers amongst us, where the larger surface area of the caliper, and thicker disc, can dissipate much more heat, and hold more heat before fade.

Use a rim bigger than a 14. Your rim size should not be holding your brake upgrade back...........

who can order in these brackets? how much?
i can get them made up if i have cad drawings, but i need alot of people to be involved, as machining costs aren't cheap.

I know someone who runs a AE86 in IPRA using FC calipers.. I'm sure he is running a 14" rim. It uses original FC rotors over a machined RA40 hub. Custom caliper bracket.

Yeah, he does run them under 14s, but not with the Yahoo Japan bracket which was the threadstarter.

Yeah sorry should have mentioned was a custom fabricated bracket.. Not an 'off the shelf item'.

Yeah, i have plans to use an R/Z32 caliper with the Peugot discs. Will see how it goes. But that isnt the topic of this thread.

You'd want some spacers behind each pad for that, being a caliper that usually holds a 30mm disc dropping down to what a 22mm disc?

Granted though.. not going to help this thread.

What about adapting a more simple dog n bone bracket for the FC caliper? Those yahoo jap ones from memory were not that cheap?

I have just re-read this thread and I was unable to find the regulations you speak of. Hence I stand by my statement.

    he means
"some of us actually race our cars in actual races, not just tootling around the streets, and as such there are rules and regulations governing what modifications can and cannot be done to our cars." To say they should just use a larger rim may contravene regs, and put them out of their class....

fwiw, those 32 calipers weigh about 3.5kg each and are big suckers.. refer to my dimensions in cruzidas thread

anyway, i couldn't find the original article i was looking for, by a company that made caliper brackets for AE86.. they stated in great depth (with numbers to back it up) that due to smaller piston area with FC caliper, you get stupid rear brake bias because brakes are less effective at front. as such, tey recommended that a larger disc be used in conjunction with the FC caliper.

Yeah, which thankfully R32 brakes have less of a problem with due to the piston size.
The article which you are looking for is on the old forum as well, improvedae86 made the point there which caused a small furore.

The R32 calipers may weigh 3.5kg but the Hilux calipers are around 7kg, and every kg counts.
