Sounds like the T40
went today to get a gearbox for my 4 agte, the guy said he had one out of an ae71 but it was a 4 speed i saw the box and motor it was a 4a, has any heard of these and how strong and if i can use it and also if i would have to change clutch or tailshaft or anything?
Sounds like the T40
AE102 - Charlene the Old Faithful, Reborn
JZZ30 - Lexi the Spacecruiser, 1JZGTE>>3SGE. 200rwkw, hunting Skylines and n00bs in SS Commodores
ST162 - Charlie the non-ghey Celica, 3SGE>>4AGE. GOOOOOOOONE
AE82 - Rosie the Bitsa from Hell, 70.8kw atw. Has been converted into garage space and money at last
KE55 - Billie the Beast, sadly missed
The AE71 van I used to own had a T40 4 speed. Seemingly not much diference to a corolla T50, but the van used a larger clutch - it used the clutch from the 4A engined sprinter. Not sure if this means anything about the strength of the box, more likely to stop clutch slipping under a full load in the back.

it would not matter if the clutch is bigger its if the spline is the same true?
Sorry, can't help on spline, wasn't paying much attention to that at the time. Clutch shop will be able to help on that though. clutch part number for AE71 van 4 speed was same as sprinter in their books...
Cheers

i really wouldnt bother with a t50 cos with a 4agte or evn gze the torque will kill the box, they arrnt the strongest of things, spend the dosh and get a 4a=>w5x bellhousing and a W box, it will have paid itself off by the time you break your 4th t50, and FFS read, and use the friggin search button, fuck even search google, no wonder ur on neg 18 rep
edit make that -21 rep
oh all t50/40 input splines will be the same, if its a celica box then it will be a 20 spline out put shaft, if its a later corolla box (86 and 71) they will be 22 spline, both the same strenght and all the rest
no need to be a smart arse
i wasnt, seriously instead of creating a useless thread, why not read a little hmmm? heck i have done a shitload of reading and not alot of posting over at ae86dc while researching my 20v conversion
no worrries
