    Default o2 sensor...are they really needed, ??????

hey guys, well im made up my dump pipe, and left out the 0'2 sensor, as some have advised me that they arent really needed, and hardly work, if at all on some cars,

im a reall noob when it comes to this sorta stuff,

are there any pros or cons to just leaving it un hooked?

    cheers, blake

if your ECU can do closed loop fuel control, you will save fuel during cruising/normal driving.
if you have a shitty ECU that doesn't have closed loop, you will either use more fuel, or the ECU has to be tuned lean to not use as much.

    closed loop ftw!!

O2 sensor is not used under load.

    Not really.
A narrow-band lamba sensor will only tell you rich/lean, you can't really do good tuning with them from monitoring.
If all you want to see is rich/lean though then it'd be okay.

IN 05 NT: what ecu are you using?

If it is a microleb or similar, it won't need the O2 sensor. If it is a ECU capable of closed loop (i.e. OEM ECU or some other better ECU's on the market) Then it would be a good idea if you want economy.

If its going to be a full out race car. Then why are you worrying about economy or emissions for that matter

Putting a bung in the pipe is still a good idea, so you can stick a wideband sensor in there for tuning etc.

If you're using a factory ECU, then fit one.

ummm yeah ur gonna need it if the OEM ecu had one u need it, if its disconnected it will run so freakin rich cos i thinks its not getting a reading cos there aint enough fuel, u will use about 3 times the fuel maybe? i know i accidently disconnected the o2 on the pulsar while fixing an exhaust leak, and used up a whole tank after 150k's check engine light came on but i ignoreded it.... not a smart thing to do.

    but yeah put it in

Even if you have left it out, its not one of those hard things to drill out, braze a collar on and screw one in later on if need be. I've got one in my dump pipe, but my 1J is controlled via a Wolf3D, so its kinda nessacery

    This is a Gen2 1GGTE ecu?
You'll run stupidly rich and lose a lot of power if you don't run one.
