the only thing i dont like about the jaycar unit its not a closed loop system, otherwise id be all over it.

edit: then again my engine management is not closed loop either i spose. meh. anyone have any downsides of the jaycar unit?

actually, does someone want to sell me a working unit?
since i now have a working solenoid, map sensor but no controller... maybe i should just get a dodge controller

a closed loop system is where there is feedback, for istance an oxygen sensor

is has to do with whats called a closed loop transfer function cltf but im not gunna try and explain differential equations and laplace transformations

basically its driven within parameters not just a program that runs if that makes sense

    craig

not necessarily a silly q euther so +rep

Although in the case of the boost controller, it's usually closed loop on boost pressure

You would think a good controller would use a PI (or PID) control loops, so you could just tune a couple of constants rather than needing a lot of math to describe the system.

I picked up a Blitz DSBC Spec S for $250 last year, holds boost fine up to 20psi or so. It replaced the Norgren Valve setup I had earlier. The norgren valve actually brought boost on slightly earlier and held it better, but wasn't adjustable from in the cabin (no high or low settings etc). It was a 2 valve system.

Yeah the turbosmart E-boosts are farken good units - well worth the money for reliable, best performance operation with just a couple of simple buttons to push.

The AVC-Rice is also pretty good, from opinions i've heard from others.

well i ended up with a blitz DSBC spec-R. ive wired the bugger up and it seems easy enough to use, brings boost on much earlier and harder, and holds it fairly constant. love the peak hold function! we will see how it goes when the wick gets turned up tomorow hopefully!

yea we put an eboost on my mates drag car, very stoked with that unit. easy to use and understand. if money was no consideration, i would have grabbed one without hezitation.

Bringing up an old thread in the search for info, has anyone tried the Greddy units and have opinions on them? While the eboost2 sounds like the shit, it just looks poxie!

The Greddy (eg Profec B) units were known for the easy use and function.

From personal experience, the Profec B was easy to use and help boost perfect when setup correctly.

The Profec B spec 2 has a few extra options like peak boost, but is also a little trickier to setup.

Greddy now also have the Profec B Spec S, which is based on the original (due to demand), but has the capacity to control boost upto 40psi now.

Prices on the Greddy have recently (like the last week) come down on all there gear.
