    Default Electrical Problems - 20v

I've got an AE101 Corolla Levin GT-Apex, it has the silvertop 20V engine in. I had some running issues (it wouldn't run!), the ECU check was showing ignition and water temperature faults, I couldn't work out the problem, so got it checked on a diagnostics machine.

Turns out it was 2 capacitors inside the ECU leaking. I had it professionally repaired. Now, after driving the car for a week (it's been fine) the ECU check light came on. It's the same two fault codes, ignition and water temp. At the moment, the car still drives alright and the light comes on and goes out, but I can feel it starting to get a little jerky. This is how it went the 1st time.

I've not examined the ECU yet, but i'm assuming it'll be the same 2 capacitors. What could cause this to be happening?

    Cheers, Tom.

i dont really belive much in repairing ecus

sometiems they are easy and fixed othertimes they will never be 100%

im goin to be up in elemore vale in afew weeks doin a job

i have a 20v ecu lying around but im not sure if it runs a car properly never tersted it

i can bring it up with me

if you want to try it drive over and plug it in

if tis ok u can buy it if you want

who repaired the ecu did they give you warranty with it

a common place for the ecus to stuff up is with ecu plugs at top look at bottom right hand corner there is 3 black capacitors

most fukt 20vs ecus ive seen stuff up there

Is Elemore Vale in North Yorkshire? If so, I don't think my car will make it that far. Where are you from?

What ECU do you have, manual for a silvertop? I'm going to remove mine shorty and inspect it.

take note of the part number on the ECU.

when ECU fails inside, it is either faulty (or bodgy) parts to begine with, or there is something causing the fault to occur...

If these is something causing the fault to occur, whats the likely suspect? I thought maybe my alternator was overcharging, tested it, putting out 14.75 volts.
