ae86 crossmember into te71/ 72

hey just just a quick Q
i was wondering if an ae86 crossmember will boltstraight into a te71/ 72 thus allowing the bolt in of A series motor. and the use of rack n pinion steering.

cant answer that for you but something else to consider is the AE71 crossmember, i think they might be the same as AE86's.

I also thought KE70's had rack and pinion, and K x-member can be mod'ed to fit T series enignes so that might work as well?

They are the same as AE71 arnt they?
AE71 bolts in without problems but if you dont convert to R&P you have to trim those mount a bit.
Then a 4ag just fits like it should.

It may pay to do some checking on if the firewall is the same. There were definitely photos posted here of someone doing this swap (may have been old forum) and the rack column fitted straight in with the steering box firewall. However when I swapped from steering box to rack on my NZ new KE70 wagon the firewalls were different and we had to cut and weld from the donor car.

you have to modify where the column comes through the firewall but nothing too hard. Better off modifying it and using the R&P if you ask me.
