just scrap the charger and bolt the turbos on instead and front mount the cooler
So, with the 1ggte powered rust bucket being consigned to another fate (long term project or dispose of), I've bought a 1ggze powered 23.
I've spent the last few days trawling toymods and other forums and it seems there are a few mentions of intercooler installs for this engine in a 23, but no details or pics.
The closest I've seen is a Witzl suggestion from here.

looking in the engine bay, the only place I could think of (and this is reflected in what information is available) is a small water/air setup in the place the battery would normally be.
Does anyone actually have a 1ggze in a 23 with an intercooler?
Perhaps I just need to accept the shortcomings of the 1ggze until the 1ggte gets a rebuild and drop that in instead?

Really?
Manifolds the same?
ECU the same?
oil pickups etc?
I'd think about doing it if it's plausible.
turbo manifold will bolt on not sure bout ecu or oil would just have to check the oil but ecu should just pick up + air pressure nothing else different really

hmmm.
I'll have to live with the GZE until I can save a few dollars, but if turbo/supercharger interchange is possible with only minor mods, it would be a goer.
What about the lower compression in the GZE? make much difference in your view?

a bit of info here i like the idea of winding more boost into it and with standard turbos shouldnt be off boost to much anyway

Yeah I saw that thread and aside from the of boost issues with turbo's on a GZE, the final call by most was that wiring/ancillary connections and so forth made it cheaper to just get a 1ggte.
Why not water/meth injection? http://www.toymods.org.au/forums/tec...injection.html
SHEPPO..
+ 1 for water injection. strait into the blower, will cool the lobes and help the blower seal better, plus the whole intercooling effect.
use the signal for the blower clutch and i would look after itself just add a bright led in the dash and a level sensor in the tank.
im adding a turbo to my 1ggze and water injection is the only real option for after blower cooling with space constraints.
Looks like water injection is the only practical solution. How often do people find they need to fill up?
EDIT: I think that if I can't find a compact IC setup, I'll skip water injection. Seems like a lot of hassle for a car that is primarily to be street driven.
Seems the guys who get the most out of injection setups are using it very effectively at the drags and other short duration applications.
Thanks for the ideas and links though, feels like I actually know a bit now.

Hey man, Have any photos of the 1G supercharger setup in the 23?

I havent got anything new but some pics in the forsale ad

Just get the 1ggze/ra23 rego'd and engineered. Its still going to have 100kw atw which will make the car very spritely. Then do paint and change to a 1jz
RA23 - Twincharged
JZZ20 - Daily
I'd considered that or even 3rz. But then I heard 3rz could make your car go all Philadelphia experiment.
But, yeah. It's sensible to keep it as is until I can do a full conversion to something more powerful. Even if it means being outrun by an 18rg.
At the least the 1ggze install is really well done. Unlike the debacle wagon.
