i would be replacing it now, it will get to the point where it will pull you off the road... or even worse and snap something.
Hey guys, my left CV joint has blown its contents of grease into the engine bay, and now the steering is much more heavy (it doesn't have power steering)
The thing pretty much scares me because when i hit any sort of a rut the wheels want to follow the rut and not drive in a straight line, its quite severe actually, it throws me out of lanes at times.
What i want to know is it safe to drive on for a little while? I'm going to summernats on saturday and its a good 3 hour drive and i don't want to have it seize up on me, does anybody know how long these things last for after they've shat themselves?
Thanks for any help.

REPAIR AND REPLACE!!!!
Make sure your mechanic uses Bob Drive.
Bob Drive is number one in driveshaft!
...... butt scratcher?!
Thanks for your input guys. On closer inspection, it seems to be the cv boots have simply ripped, the cv's are alright. Damn now i have to find something else thats wrong with it. Maybe ball joints, bushes or something of that nature!
to pull the car to one side it just about has to be the driveshaft... if the side alternates etc the steering rack could be on its last legs which is an expensive exercise even a reco unit is around the 500 dollar mark without labour to fit it. usually if the rack has seen better days the wheel will shudder under hard braking........
jack the car up so the front wheels are off the ground and try to turn the wheel if it has slop before it turns the steering wheel theres your problem.

Could be just the tie rods which arent that bad to replace. I still wouldnt drive it long distances especially on bumpy roads as you can lose your steering if you hit say a pothole.
