I suspect that the thermostat has been removed from my motor by the original owner, since it runs at a low temp all the time.
Now from reading a bloody lot of threads here & 40 years of driving, I've worked out that engine heat + high K's = BHG risk in any engine.(moreso the 5M-E)
Question:
Is it better to leave the thermostat out, engine runs cooler but uses more fuel.
Or fit a new thermostat, engine runs higher temp, less fuel. But increases the risk of HG problems.
At the moment the motor runs as smooth as silk, gear changes that you can't feel happen. And I'm happy with the performance in my daily driving.
