even if it is a DE there are better options that will require less effort. 4AGE, 4AGZ(t)E, 2TG, 3TGTE, 3STGE, 1G-GTE (CA18DET what I've got, or RB20DET)

it'd be lige bolting in an M-TE (2L straigh 6 OHC turbo motor out of the MA63 in japan, AKA rubish, made ~160BHP on a cold day) without the turbo, a heavy pice of crap.

    ahh no

me and stiggzy lifted the motor out of the trailer onto the tyre.
3 of us lifted it on, light as shit really.

i know of a bloke who has lifted a 16v by himself tho.

the 4a blocks are light as piss. (i picked stiggz's spare block up, while attached to the engine stand, rather light )
so are 1g's actually, just not such a light piss

You are ALL girly-men. Sure, it might be a bit of a squeeze under the bonnet, but who could say no to 10,440hp? First person to lift one of these gets a free packet of smarties, too!

For a TA22, the 4As definitely seem a very good conversion. 4AGZE, possibly converted to turbo, is going to be more than enough power to turn a TA22 into an uber fun machine. The 3TGTE would be a bit less hassal, but its heavier, older tech, and harder to get parts for. 3SGTE you have to convert to RWD, but its a super smooth modern engine, and in a class of its own. Theres a bit of fabrication work involved in the 3S and is beyond most first time converters. The 4A and 3T options would be reasonable for first time converters.

If you need something to get it back up and running while you figure out what to convert it to, a lot of people doing conversions on these cars chuck out perfectly good 2Ts, so you should be able to find a replacement for cheap.
