Hey guys, since I've owned my car (few months now) the high beams have never worked when you push the lever forward to make the high beams stay on. However, when you pull the lever back so they stay on for as long as you hold the stick the high beams work.
The other day I pulled the plastic off from around it and had a look.
The dodgy pic I drew =
1. The piece of metal that makes the lever stay in the forward position (the ball bearing and spring in the end of the lever push up against this). Doesn't seem to make a circuit with anything that would make the high beams work.
2. A button that gets pushed when the lever is pulled back to temporarily turn on the high beams. This button is not pushed when the lever is pushed forward
3. The ball bearing. w00t.
The lever does not seem to push or make contact with ANYTHING when pushed forward. The only thing I was a bit suss about was that near the screw that goes through the lever there was a squarish bit of black plastic that looked like it could have been a button but was broken. I tried pushing it in but it didn't seem to move so I'm not sure if that was it.
Does someone know exactly what activates the high beams to stay on? If you could get a pic or dodgy ms paint drawings that would be hugely appreciated thanks.
unfortunately they don't show anything about the hibeams thankyou so much for spending the time to scan that in anyway!
I'll go to the wreckers and pull apart one there to check it out.
