    Default Is my CT26 OK?

Now that I have the turbo off my GT4, I was wondering whether it is worthwhile to give it a bit of 'loving' before I re-fit it

It has done 140,000km with standard boost etc.. It seems to spool up OK and makes good boost (9/11psi).

My power goals are pretty modest (about 160awkw), so not planning to upgrade the turbo. However, if I go to the trouble/expense of rebuilding it, I might as well get it hi-flowed as well.

    What are your thoughts?

Here are some pics of the turbo for your amusement....

i reckon give it a general refresh 0 and if you have the money why not? The other thing is with an output of about 160awkw the turbo will be pretty muich running at full and wont have much in it. I think 16psi is the most for standard ct26. Get it flowed and you can probs bump out about 22psi. DO it!

how much play does the shaft have?

the compressor almost looks like its been rubbing on the housing.

It might be worth giving it a freshen up. Or use it until it blows and upgrade it.

The shaft has very little play, almost none at all. I have read the specs for 'acceptable' play but you can't tell without having scientific measuring equipment.

I'd love to freshen it up, but if it isn't really necessary, then the $1,000 could be better spent somewhere else (eg. Engine Management, EBC)

I thought the turbo appeared to be in pretty good nick.

If thats the case, use it until it blows. Plenty of stock CT26's around to replace it if that does happen.
