    Default 1JZ Turbos not working?

    Hi

Got my 1JZ in and running, it's got a set of new steel wheel CT12A's and is running the ECU out of the halfcut.

I've been driving around to let the ECU do it's thing, but after about 100KM's or so, it would appear the turbos are not kicking in.

It only ever reaches about 3-4 PSI on the attached boost gauge (sits on 20PSI Vacuum).

During the initial 10 KM's or so, it would surge (as if boosting really strongly) - but now nothing.

Any ideas on what I should start looking at?

    Thanks

    Boost gauge accurate / checked?

Boost leaks (IC pies, IC, BOV, ISCV check valve are some places to look)?

    Wheezing noises as boost escapes?

Does it sound like the turbos are working?

I'm assuming that it doesn't make bad noises?

    Cheers

Boost gauge is new - could be wonky I guess.

It used to make wheezing noises as boost escaped - but not now.

You could clearly hear the induction and then the boost escaping - but now it's like a N/A engine.

I'll check for loose hoses again. Could it be the ECU?

Nope - everything sounds really good !

    Wastegate could be stuck open?

Have you got non-stock boost control?

Getting any diagnostic codes from the ecu?

Yes - ECU code #666 - Ensure all Intercooler piping is secure before engaging boost.

yeah mate i would check ur wastgates on the turbos and see if there are not getting stuck open not easy on internal wastegate on a 1jz. or check ur boost controller like the other guy said

Yes - Intercooler piping from turbo to IC was only half on. Must have blown off.
