    Default help needed with 1ggte!

    hi guys,
    well ive just finished putting a 1ggte into a 85 hilux 4wd..
everything was fine for the first day or so of driving.. but i was running it with no thermo-stat so it was on cold all the time.. it then started to get a miss in it.. which i put down to being the plugs fouled up because since its been running on cold it has prolly been giving it to much fuel..
well i put new plugs in today and it hasnt fixed it..
any ideas as to what it might be?
    cheers
    rollsy
p.s the plugs were double platenium but were for a 7mgte.. would this matter?

I also second that you make sure you put the right thermostat in it as mentioned before. These engines have drama's with an incorrect thermostat, and also the same thing happens if you run it with no coolent in it.

If problems continue, check the cold start injector isnt stuck on.

    Hope this helps?

check all the leads for damage,

remove 1 lead at a time while the motors running, and determin which cly/s are causing the miss,

i had a similar prob when i up the boost on mine, it them backfired and destroyed the ceramic around 3 of the plug electrodes, causing an erractic miss,

i checked the books a while back for plugs, i think the 7M platinums were the same for the 1ggte,.

    .....

ok ive got the NGK plug book infront fo me now, 7m AND 1G platinaum plugs are the same, BCPR6EP-N-8,

mine does the same thing, i changed the plugs, leads, clean injectors, everything really except for the coil and nothing has made a lick of difference, so i just lived with it. although i do believe i have an 89deg thermostat in it which could be interesting.

why are you running elecky pump?
and i also found with no thermostat the 1g sat on the corolla gauge just over where i would expect the 4k to sit. this is with a 4k sensor in the 1g.
with the thermostat in, it sits over half way, but seems to stay still. so i just accept that.
with the 89* thermostat it sat on REDREDREDREDRED
