SV21 Experts?????

This may soung like a dumb question, however......

Fixing a few interior rattles on the camry today, I've found a knob ( missing the plastic bit off the front of it) it's located on the black part of the dash, just under and to the right of the ignition barrel.

I've always thought it was put there by the previous owner, however it is in the w/s manual.

In the book they call it a "rheostat". My question is, what the hell is it supposed to do??

I thought someone out there in Toymods land would know.

I didn't even think of that. Probably because I never use the dimmer on my own car.
