Rang about 6 shops today, looking for a gen2 MR2 SW20. There are three non turbo motors i have found and no turbo, found 2 in queensland but they are half cuts and havent rang em yet to see if they will seperate. All i want to know is if i can use the bottom end out of another 3S motor and what is different between the non turbo and turbo motor i this what this thread is all about.Originally Posted by mtp_69_i

that's very flattering but no thanks.Originally Posted by H1TMAN
try looking for a gen 1 3sgte, they seem to go for under 1k...
or spend the extra money, buy a halfcut, use the long motor, then sell everything else on it, and make most your cash back..
What is autosalon? Sounds kinda homo.

reasonable advice Jorrs, but there are 2 MR2 3sgtes in the link I posted. Right here in SA no less. I dunno where you're looking Strat, but there are plenty of 3sgtes around. In fact, when I was asking for a gen 2 or 3 3sge, the guys at Adelaide J@p said they don't even import them as the demand isn't high enough.Originally Posted by Jorrs

agreed, but those are "engine packages" so you get all the ancillaries as well (minus the g-box). You may be able to get them to separate, or buy the lot and either sell the excess on here, or keep it for spares.Originally Posted by strat

As an aside you will want to change your CAMS logbook details before you get pinged by a scrute or a CoC. You are still listed as Class B 2L NA.

yeh those oficials are tripping on acid! i told em about that my log book is correct but on my entry form i wrote 2000cc wich is correct but not the swept volume. I told em they put me in the wrong class but they didnt bother changing it.Originally Posted by takai

Unfortunately even still in that situation the onus is on you to have it corrected. Running a Class C car in Class B will have you slapped with a $500 fine if CAMS catch wind of it. And CAMS administration dont particularly care who was in the wrong.

cams were fully aware of the situation as i made it quite clear what car i was running and my log book confirms what i told em so they got it wrong and if they didnt want to change it they can blow me! i dont really care what they think they can do if they want to fine me i just wont pay ant take a holiday instead, i had my pit crew a witnesses with my discussion with the clark of course so if they wanted to fine me i will take them to tribunal, and it wouldnt be the first time i have done it, i have held a cams racing licence for quite a while and officials license, i know how it works they cant just fine you without any sort disscution or a tribunal hearing first.Originally Posted by takai

Actually if you had a read of the new targetted scrutineering guidelines then you would realise that the onus is 100% on you to make sure that everything is up to scratch. If not, then its your arse on the line.
