Well after your little display the other day I don't think he would have to worry about bogging down!
    Cheers,

hahahaha - even my poopoo AE71 ran a 14..... and a damn low 14 too

as for the expansion of the ToyotaFest event.... well this year I'm not sure that the board is all that keen on putting in the massive amount of extra effort required to run a drag day, but it is definitely something we are working towards! My personal goal was to expand the event by 2008, which I think is definitely acheivable.

As for hiring out WSID for the whole day..... well here's what Puzzleman found out when he asked last year....

There is no charge for this service apart from the standard $45 driver/car - $15 Spectators.

The second option is for the hire of the entire venue exclusively.
    For this we charge $200 per driver/car - Minimum 40, Max 50.
What a number of clubs do is join forces with other clubs to make up the required numbers.

I know I personally would pay $200 for exclusive use of WSID all day.... but would 39 other people?? We would need some SERIOUS sponsorship to subsidise an event like that!!!

I think for ToyotaFest 2006, we could just stick with organising our own lane at WSID Wicked Wednesday. I'll have a chat to the board about this next chance i get, it wont take too much to organise and I'd be happy to organise it myself external from the "ToyotaFest" event.

Methinks I may have to go to the drags on the 15th of Feb. All it's going to take is a decent launch.

As much as I'd like it, I can't really see there being enough support for a full drag day (although I'd be up for it). That said, could we organise our own lane at WSID? I'm pretyt sure if there is enough of you, Quit will accomodate this, is it the same scenario over there?

i could get you 50 cars in a heart beat to do that, i put this through a third chanell to the board and was told there wasnt much interest. the club can make profit from it the way the skyline club does by charging non memebrs $230. only problem now is they wont let cars faster than 11.00 run at club days, i have asked can i dial back and run 11.0's and they cant give me a straight answer.

I wouldn't be interested in a full day at the drags.

After 5 or 6 runs I'd be other it, and would just park the car.

Getting a lane for the evening seems like a much better option.

here at wsid mate you would be lucky to get 4 runs if the night runs perfect. for me to trailer my cressida to WSID its not worth going for a wednesday night street meet for the cost of runnning 4 passes and not being able to test things enough. if i were driving interstate to race at the best venue int he country i would want more than 5 passes, shit its only an hour 45 from my place.

True to an extent, but his car isn't a dedicated drag car and neither are many others. Most will just wanna have a quick hit out and be done with it.
    If in doubt power out

i would of thought if dubbo was anything to go buy last time i went most people had 20 passes. they couldnt get enough as they wanted to grudge race pretty much every one that went. i suppose some people enjoy the competition and others dont.

I can see your side of it Shane, but as 7MA61 said, its not a dedicated drag car.
If it was a choice between getting 4 laps of a race track and hiring it out the whole day, there would be no question on that one.
    I'd hire the track.

While the 1/4mi is no doubt fun, its not varied enough for run to run for me to go back week after week (unless I'm contantly making changes like yourself).
So after 4-6 runs, providing I didn't fuck up the launch on every one, I'd know what my car is capable of doing with me behind the wheel.

At the end of the day the whole event is just a social one anyway. I'm there for the peeps, not the racing.

Now that really wraps up what Toymods events are all about.

I'm sure we can get a lane for the club to run at WSID as long as we have a fair number of cars.

Shane as to hiring the track out for a day, while I believe you that you could get 50 cars for it easily, when we put it to the club very few people were keen to run at the price it would be. Jason is really the only club member I can think of who is seriously into racing. The board as a whole are really quite risk averse when it comes to spending the money the club has managed to raise over the years.

If we had a situation where there were 25-30 club members keen to pay the money and run then we'd definately revisit the idea.
