maybe we could start using ky jelly instead of oil. That way it wont break(applies to other things too)
if the oil return from the head will premote breaking the rod, ask your mech if the piston oil squirters will make the pistons break off the end of the rod? or wear a hole in them or something....
or better still, listen to bullshit from machinists trying to make money that know fuck all about what there doing or saying! lol

good call, sounds like a load of crap to me. if that were true there would be enough oil spray floating about in the crankcase to break the crank into a million little peices too! lol. oh no!!!! im never putting oil in my engine ever, ever again!!! bad oil! BAD!!!
Be a big return to cause oil winding! that happens from over filling you sump and is rare at best in todays engines because of scrapers and windage trays!
Biggest laugh I ever had, apart from this machinine shop.![]()
My next door neighbour had bough a new A9X Torana. Travelling back to Canb' from Adelaide, in the middle of summer, the engine was getting a little hotter than what he thought was normal. His solution, add another 4 litres of engine oil. Then the clown wondered why the engine was rattling when he got back to Canberra. Can you imagine the forces acting on the crankshaft counterweights, as they each tried to rip their way through the additional oil in the sump.
Funny shit.
cheers Chuck

im a mech so i see that all the time. most recent was two weeks ago, a guy with a VS senator, hes a regular customer and his car goes real well, had a bit of work done on it. anyway he complained his car was leaking oil and blowing a bit of smoke, i put it on the hoist and drained 14 litres of oil from it :O
i once had a little old lady have her car towed into my workshop after she "topped' the oil up!
it wouldnt even start as it had gone through the breather and into the inlet manifold and filled it!
i asked her how much she put in, and she said "only 6 liters, i could was trying to find more because i couldnt see it in the hole yet" lol
must of thought she had too fill it like she does her radaitor, i.e too the top.
funny shit!
i drained the "oil" from the sump of a barina this week. the owner went to top up the washer bottle and got confused.Originally Posted by cuzzo
it was like clay water coming out of the engine, there would have been bout 8 litres of liquid coming out too.

A bit off topic but its oil in unusual places...
One of the guys I work with has a VL and he had been telling me how it had been feeling really strong. Then one day he asked me what causes oil to be in the overflow. I asked how much and he said a bit. Went and checked it out and it was practically pure oil in the overflow but it hadn't gone all milky. I told him he needed to see a mechanic urgently
Found out that the head had split through the cam journals and oil had gone into the water jackets. I guess the oil pressure is higher than the pressure in the cooling system because it had pushed all the coolant out. The engine temp guage still sat in the same spot, which I thought was a bit strange
wow! , thats really strange! never heard of them cracking there!
was it also cracked from a cooling passage into a combustion chamber?
its supprising what that can actually do from a peformance point of view.
though usually that will cause big cooling system pressurs it can also give a nice power boost as it works a bit like water injection.
