just got a a40 3 speed auto for my 4 agte do they bolt straight on? how much power do the hold? do they run off vacum or cable? and if anyone knows what size stall converter is the standard one?

4age's use T series box AFAIK.

a340e's I have seen with J,M and G series bell housings. So no, will not bolt on.

Also, the E designates electronic so you will need an MV shift box to manualise it otherwise you will shift 1,3,4.

The line pressure is from the cable on throttle body for most older type a340e variants.

Stock boxes usually good for around 220rwkw and the associated torque from a 1jz-gte. So unless you are a nutter, it should last behind a 4agte (if you can mount it there?)

I actually read it as a typo. a40 3 speed. Insert 3 into a40 to get a340

Apparently the a40 is a 4 speed. Well someone who answered one of his questions before said it was?

The most common auto box found behind 4A's in RWD format are trimatics.

A40 was the 3-speed auto used in early Celicas, eg RA23.

The jap spec/JDM ones would no doubt have had another model of auto box, perhaps the A40 you speak of??

What ever box it is you have though if it came out of an AExx model it will bolt to a 4A.

Trimatics can be made to hold quite a bit of power. They used to convert them to run behind VL turbos....until they kept breaking

No you can't use a flywheel with an autobox.

You will need to get the proper flexplate to suit the motor and box you are using.

if it where a fwd eng/trans set-up a A241E 4 speed auto from a V6 camry will bolt up to the 4ag block.
strong as shit and basicaly use E51/E58 gze size/type driveshafts.
