As I said in my last post I am changing my brake setup. I'll be fitting shortly R33GTST/R32GTR calipers, BA Falcon rotors and UPC billet hubs. I've decided to use billet hubs so I won't have any spacers.

I looked up the company the 289Hilux used in the Yellow Pages and called them after they wouldn't answer my email. Their real name is Ultra Performance Components AKA Mr Spares (E-Bay) located in Melbourne. Their PH # is (03) 9723 9924. They will let you pay by either credit over the phone or internet EFT.

All up it's costing me $314. That includes hubs, seals and bearings x2 and $19 postage (Mel to Syd). Considering bearings and seals will set you back close to a $100 its pretty cheap.

Consult the links above for how to fit this setup.

Thanks to Infotechplus and The Real Roadrunner for doing the hard yards and to 289Hilux for discovering a cheap place to get custom billet hubs made.

would prob be twice as good the hopperstoppers kit for the same $$

I'd say it'd be a lot better then any of the Skyline combos we've mentioned in here, but the size is a limiting factor. 17"+ makes it hard for those with the higher load ratings to fit legal rims. It would be fine for you with your reduced load rating though.

$1400 without hubs or anything like that is a bit exxy comparatively..

I guess it depends what you are going to do with your hilux, even with my 'only' 300mm brakes the pads take a little while to come up to temp.

Without buying pads or another rebuild kit, this new setup I'm trying has cost:
$314 for RN85 billet hubs and shipping from Melbourne
$225 for R32GTR/R33GTSTcalipers and shipping from Brisbane
    $330 for BA Falcon rotors
    $869 total
If I shopped around for the rotors instead of going for convenience I could of saved a lot more I reckon, but getting the calipers for $200 cheaper then in Sydney or on E-Bay really helped keep costs down.

yeah true all, if you shopped around for rotors could go close to 1000 with pads and 2x rebuild kits.
i guess im a sucker for the big brake look lol.

Yeah, rebuild on the last ones cost @$115 and I can't remember what my ultimates cost. I won't be rebuilding these calipers as they look in good condition and came straight off the donor car and I'll be using the ultimates I'm currently using till they're worn out but won't be buying them again for the reasons that are mentioned earlier in this thread.

Ok, this should be the final front brake change for me.

I had a few dramas starting with my hubs vanishing.

I called UPC and they said that they sent them on Friday and that they were delivered on Monday but I heard nothing from anyone about the delivery and no one at work knew anything about them.

Drama No. 1 - Solved - I found the hubs. The equipos at work had them.
Drama No. 2 - Solved - The hubs hadn't been machined enough where the seals fit or the seals provided were wrong. I found a bearing shop in Penrith that helped me out.
Drama No. 3 - Solved - I no longer had a socket to take my wheels off with. I had to go out and buy a 13/16 long socket (my wheels weren't machined enough for my cross brace to fit).

    Heres the pics.

    The UPC billet hub kit.

    Standard Vs custom.

Standard Vs custom with BA rotors on.

Packed the bearings with Nulon Xtreme Performance Grease.

BA Falcon rotor Vs R32 GTST rotor.

    Hub fitted.

    Rotor fitted.

    Caliper fitted.

ADR 3 approved braided brake line.

    Banjo fitting on caliper.

Still looks small hiding behind 20s.

Now I just have to source some 15" rims and fix the power steering.

    I made another boo-boo.

I had the pads on the wrong side. the little tab/tongue thing that is on 2 of the pads needs to go in the back of the caliper. On the R32 GTST this tongue clears the rotor hat but on the R32GTR with BA rotors it scrapes something shocking. Make sure you have the pads with the tongue to the back of the caliper.
