+rep for you.
Very interested in seeing how this works out. A70s have a frikin HUUUUUUUGE turning circle.
Been doing some jobs on the old Soarer driftybus, this one took some thinking, some Mr Toyota compatibility engineering :smash: & a bit almost Zero ackerman diddling
Arms don't lock out at these angles either :smokin:
Have'nt measured it yet but its heaps!!! more than I had before, guess is near 50deg, will now have to re-engineer the subframe clearance with Cpt-Anglegrinder & his mate the Mr Welder
Might need some wopping offset wheels for clearance!
So how was it done....
GZ20/MZ20/JZA70 etc subframe, JZZ30 bottom arms, tie rods, track ends & hubs using the original upper arms. You'll need to shorten the tie rods & track rod ends by 15mm as they need to be screwed in quite a way. The hubs steering arms have been shortened by 50mm to delete the ackerman system, cut & rewelded job.
My old system had the rack ends spaced out, you won't be needing that any more just the standard rack system.
You'll need to add some spacers welded to the inside of the subrame mounts to pack out the difference in the bushes (JZ ones are 5-10mm shorter) The JZ arms also give more castor about 5mm further forward on the outer joint. Not measured it but its lots.
Not sure how legal this might be for the road but its a track car![]()

I used to eat alot of natural foods. That was until I learned that most people died of natural causes.
won't shortening the arms exacerbate the ackermann angles?
i thought you needed to move the steering rack forward to remove ackermann... (rack inl
anyway, will be interesting to see how much the steering effort increases with the halving(?) of the steering arm..., anyway, looks like funand points for effort

The JZ arms are longer than the original ones so that's why they need shortening. Also theses chassis codes use a variably controlled steering pressure system, normally ECU/speed controlled it's easy enough to diddle it to the setting you want though.
I'll keep you all posted on the feedback side of things still some testing & development work to be done - oh yeah & fit an engine![]()

hey mate i know this is an old thread but how did you go with this? Did you get it working? Would definately be interested in more info
yeah, I was asked to learn a bit more about this too![]()
Just bringing out the dead thread
Had this on my car all year so far - awesome stuff works a treat![]()

haha nicely done. Did you use the z20 struts or the jzz30 struts?
if my car wasnt a roadie I would so be doing this...who knows when I get sick of all the cop attention and make it track only I might go down this path
