blocked pickup in sump, blocked fuel filter, dud pump or carby bowl playing up!
hey everybody!! im dr nick!! (not really) but anyway..
my friend has a ke70 and we're having some intermittant problems with the 4k..
basically, sometimes it will run really well under load etc, so basically no problems. but then other times it just wont go, you crank it over, and it appears to fire, but wont start or idle.you crank and it fires, revs a little (not up to idle speed) and then just dies. first time it happend we were driving along and it just died wouldnt not respond to accel pedal at all, not even a splutter. Its very intimitent but frequent. we have replaced coil, spark plugs so basically ruled out ignition. one thing we have noticed is that there is hardly any fuel in the fuel filter, and while cranking the filter almost empties of fuel, not sure if this is normal? Could the the fuel pump be causing this intimitent problem?
after it died the first time, we left the car for a while (had to walk home...) and then came back and after a few cranks it ran fine for a while, then died as we pulled into the driveway.
any help would be awesome!
blocked pickup in sump, blocked fuel filter, dud pump or carby bowl playing up!
ok well we replaced the fuel filter, it has a carby off a 3K which it has run on for a while, so is there any way to find out if its a blocked pickup without removing the sump? like oil pressure or something?
bump? (10 characters is a silly minimum)
you have mechanical pump i take it?
You can run it of a container of fuel to see if the pickup is blocked.
fuel filter the right way?
Does your setup have fuel return? if so check lines are not back to front.
umm, blocked float bowl filter? electric idle fuel cutoff solenoid circuit problem?
Gemlins???
Or, what both have said above...
I'd still choose gremlins!

agreed.. gremlins indeed. how does one inspect this float bowl business
rip apart the carby i think is the only way. should be a whole bunch of screws holding it together, typically is seperates into two or three layers.
alrighty.. i'll have a play with it.. thanks for the suggestion eh
