can i use the a340e or should i just use the jza70 auto?
cheers josh
hey everyone,
im in the process of doing this conversion, but ive run into a bit of a problem. im wanting to keep the auto from the 7mgte as it got rebuilt early this year and hook it up to the 1j. but when we put the torque converter on it was sitting about 20mm outside the bellhousing... i then got got the m & j bellhousing and found there was about 40mm difference between them (1j being shorter). so do i hav to make up a spacer or is there an easier way? has anyone kept there auto in this conversion?
cheers for any help, josh

u also have to make sure the 7m auto uses same speed sensors as the 1j auto
otherwise the ecu might changes gears at funny times or not at all
i wired up a 1j into an early soarer and had afew hassles due to using the 6m auto and trying to mate it to the 1j ecu and problems with gettin speedo to work
and probs with ecu in limp mode due to starting systrem
and so on
i got a mz20 with a blown hg on a 7m gte
i was gonna do a jz conversion, or even fix the original motor.. no way, what a crap heap
is there anyway of doing it under 5k..
1jz halfcuts aint much over $2500 id wack a 5 spd supra box up to it and run a aftermarket new ems.. bellhousing and all that
i called up this place .. they reckon $4500 for a 1jz halfcut and 3000+ for labour.. is that wrong or what??
proper manual gbox for a 1j is prob over a grand
aftermaket ecu like ems stinger is 1000 wiring is up to 1000
tuning is up to 500
if you are not mechanically minded up to 3000 if u say so
ive seen guys pay around 8000 to 9000 for a drive in drive out of what yr after
save yr money and buy an excel if u cant afford performance cars
hehheheheh
nah i was gonna use the money from selling it and buy a kawasaki r6
if u wanna go fast, buy a motorbike
That'd be a Yamaha mateOriginally Posted by spoolintanabe
