    Default Dash Conversion

I have recently just bought an ra23 celica to do up and the dash is in need of repair/replacement and was wondering if its possible to use a dash from an old corolla as some of them seem to look similar and would be alot easier to find than an ra23/28 dash. Also if it is possible has anyone done this before?

Theres no easy conversion of a dash. There isnt a dash that would just bolt up to your car or with little manipulation. Your best bet would be to restore what u already have, and custom building bits your missing IMO. And bits will come up around the place if you look hard enough .

as long as someting was of similar dimensions i couldnt see any huge issues bar
    maybe some wiring.

the actual dash metal under all the padding is only spot welded and i guess could be
easily enough drilled out and removed ,, then tack in a suitable replace ment.

at the same time though id imagine it to be quite fidely and time consuming compared to
    sourcing a few replacement parts.

Is it just the top section?

If so, then just get it re-skinned it's only about $200...

Nah the top section has already been recovered in leather, its all the plastic surrounds etc that have either cracked or broken off in places also the steering column shroud is in bad shape and i heard that the corrola steering column shroud fits an ra23 is this true??? Also the pipes for the heater fan have either broken or a missing.

Not sure about the Corolla stuff, but you should be able to find all the lower pieces of the dash from people here...

Alternatively, you could buy my yellow RA28 and use the dash parts (all uncracked) from that...

A KE30-55 steering column surround will fit an RA28 at least, an old customer of mine did it once. Just make sure you get one from a car that has the same shape hazard switch - earlier ones had a pull up button, later ones have a toggle switch - not sure what the RA23's have. As for the rest of the dash, no idea...

I can't see them being any different in the total length, i just might be where they mount...

I'm pretty sure the guy below has decided to wreck his RA23, so you might want to hit him up for the dash!
