You know you want to
Had a mate with a VG30DET which he had massive issues with... kinda went off the nissan v series after that... I'd rather go toyota cause its what I trust.
You know you want to
If in doubt power out
if i was gonna go away from toyota, i'd be looking at the honda 3.2 v6 - theyre seriously quick...
Yup UZ and MZ def different BH bolt pattern
The VQ35 is a current gen engine....very solid performer with strong aftermarket support...not something that can be said for the GR or MZ for that matter. The VQ is already RWD as well which may make some issues like plenums, oil drains, exhausts etc etc a bit easier?
I'm a die hard UZ fan but for your needs a VQ would fit the bill nicely.

you sound very convinced.... I'll look a bit further into it....
*edit* Ichibahn and SSS in sydney have never had one through the door yet... still too new. Any idea where I might find a price for one?
Or the 3.5L twin-cam motor from the Jackaroo. There'd be plenty of those around the wreckers, too. Also north-south config.
Plus they've already been developed a bit for the off-roading racing.
What about a Magna V6 (or are they a piss weak motor) Ralliart got some decent power out of it to still meet ADR's surely with design freedom for exhaust, ecu etc alot more could be made.
If in doubt power out
naa - I own a 05 rodeo with the Isuzu engine! its a dog. I liked my 3.2 better!
dont know much about the mitsu - never heard of them being used...
Just got a price for vq35 from All good parts who have one in stock for 5500 - almost double the price quoted for the 3mz...
You could ask Nissan for a quote on a brand new crate engine? Might want to be sitting down though; apparently the VK56 retails for approx US$7k, and I imagine the VQ35 wouldn't be much less.

What are you smoking Justin? per cylinder maybe, but the 1UZ has an extra 2 cylinders, thus an extra 4 inlet valves.Originally Posted by JustenGT8

P.S: Call around the nissan weckers, try the nissan forums, you might be able to turn up something cheap, especially if you don't need and ECU or loom. Or instead of short stroking a 1UZ you could put thick cylinder liners in it and some custom pistons.

Bob Strawbridge runs the 3.5 Mitsubishi -first as NA now as a turbo.
Also one in Alice but again with a rather large turbo.
For me it just has to be a Toyota.
There was a Magna Sports engine on ebay with tiptronic GB on eBay the other week starting at $500, last I checked it had no bids! They are a torquey motor, but Toyota motors are nicer![]()
Don't think that's particularly outrageous... 3.5 litres versus 3.5 litres the UZ is gonna struggle...the head design is what, 10 years behind. UZ in n/a has pretty average flow potential. If the 3MZ has similar development to the VVT UZ or potentially better then i reckon i'm on the money.Originally Posted by jfallen
Not gonna know without a flow bench comparison but that's my call..... a moot point though as better options anyways

I just want to throw in my kluger made 108kw at all 4 wheels at a recent dyno day.
Not a bad little motor and in a light car, it would be a weapon on a track.
